Our Mission

To empower every individual by providing a unique and essential combination of core academic support and practical, skills-based vocational training. We are more than an academy — we are a catalyst for job creation and community development in Namibia.

Our Purpose

The Problem We Solve

In towns like Grootfontein, the economic struggle is a daily reality. PTA was built to address a dual crisis head-on.

The Unqualified

Many hardworking Namibians were forced to drop out — some due to a lack of funds, others because older siblings had to leave school to care for younger siblings after losing their parents, some due to teenage pregnancy or early marriage. Whatever the reason, they now lack a Grade 10 or 12 certificate — the minimum for almost every job and training programme. No matter how talented or determined they are, this missing certificate is a hard barrier to a better life.

The Unemployed Graduate

Many university and college graduates with strong academic qualifications are unemployed. They lack the practical skills and — most importantly — the entrepreneurial mindset to create their own opportunities from the knowledge they gained through tertiary education. They were trained to be job-seekers, but there are simply not enough jobs.

Our Solution

PTA directly addresses both groups. We give the unqualified a path forward, and we give graduates the practical skills and entrepreneurial mindset to build their own futures. By empowering individuals to become self-employed, we are reducing unemployment, fostering a culture of self-reliance, and contributing to the economic vitality of Grootfontein and Namibia.

Pathways for the Unqualified

Academic bridging programs that open doors that were once firmly closed.

Skills for Graduates

Practical vocational training that turns qualifications into real income.

Entrepreneurship for All

Every vocational student gets a mandatory business class to create, not just seek, employment.

Language Accessibility

We teach in local languages — because English should never be a barrier to gaining a valuable skill.

Our Foundation

A Word From Our Founder

Romanus KS - Founder of Purple Tutoring Academy

Romanus KS

Founder & Director — PTA

Grootfontein, Namibia

Purple Tutoring Academy was not born from a business idea — it was born from something I witnessed every day in Grootfontein. Two different groups of people, two different struggles, but the same root problem: the system was not built for them.

On one side, I saw hardworking Namibians who never got to finish school — not because they were not smart enough, but because life got in the way. An older sibling who had to drop out to raise younger brothers and sisters after losing their parents. A young woman who left school due to pregnancy. A young man who simply could not afford to continue. And now, years later, they cannot move forward because they do not have a Grade 10 or 12 certificate — the minimum requirement for almost every job and training programme. Their talent and determination mean nothing to a system that only sees a missing certificate.

On the other side, I saw graduates — university and college qualified — sitting at home with no income. Not because they lack knowledge, but because they were trained to find jobs, not to create them. In a market where there are far more graduates than there are positions, that mindset is a trap.

Before any of the vocational programmes, before the hostel, before any of the bigger ideas — there were extra classes. That is where PTA began. A simple but powerful belief: that every school student deserves more support than what a classroom of forty can offer. We started by sitting with learners from Grade 1 all the way to Grade 12, going over the work again, more slowly, more personally. We set a minimum pass mark of 70% — not because it is easy, but because we refuse to celebrate mediocrity. Extra classes remain our main service to this day, and every other programme we have built has grown from the foundation that those early sessions laid.

PTA was built to address both groups I described. We give the unqualified a path back into education through our academic tutoring and NAMCOL/Upgrading classes. We give graduates and school-leavers the practical skills and the entrepreneurial mindset they need to build their own opportunities. And we do all of this in a language people actually understand — because we have seen what happens when language becomes a wall. Almost every vocational training programme in this country is taught in English. Some go even further and list English proficiency as a formal entry requirement. That means a person who is talented, willing, and ready to learn is simply turned away — not because of their ability, but because of the language the course is delivered in. At PTA, while our courses are also taught in English, any student who does not speak or understand English well enough can choose to be taught in their local language. We refuse to let language be the reason someone cannot access a skill that could change their life.

Every programme at PTA — whether it is plumbing, computer repair, or refrigeration — comes with a mandatory Business and Entrepreneurship Module. Because learning a skill is only half the mission. The other half is making sure you can turn that skill into a livelihood.

By empowering individuals to become self-employed, we are not just changing lives — we are reducing unemployment and contributing to the economic future of this community. That is our purpose. That is why PTA exists.
